Term 1 Week 3

We are heading down to Whangarei next week to visit the Kiwi House. This week we worked in groups to create KWL charts showing what we Know and what we Want to know about kiwi birds. Here is Maia and Azalea's video filmed by Sky:

Here are some of the things Room 1 wanted to know:

• Why don't kiwi fly?
• Why do kiwi go to sleep in the day and wake up at night?
• Why are kiwi fat?

Before we go to the Kiwi House we will be writing information reports and answering some of these questions.

On Friday Room 9 came to visit us and read their readers to us. Then we read them our library books. We are showing whanaungatanga by being awesome tuakana.

Term 1 Week 2

We had such a busy week! On Monday morning Tessa from ASB Getwise came to teach us about money. She taught us her superhero slogan: "Speed to your needs and wait for your wants".

Milk in Schools finally arrived!

On Wednesday Christian came to teach us how to ride a unicycle. We were really good at helping each other and sharing.

We had our first Friday afternoon assembly for the year. Mokonuiarangi and Te Kawana were proud certificate winners:

Welcome to 2015 in Room 1

What a fantastic start to the year! We spent the 4 days at school getting to know each other before enjoying a beautiful long weekend for Waitangi Day. 

On Tuesday we planted some cabbage seeds in our class garden box. We are looking forward to making some coleslaw when they grow.
